Although it’s a bit cold yesterday, my heart felt the warmth as hubby cooked me a bowl of noodles. Then I returned him a glass of healthy, yummy mango blueberry smoothie. What surprised me was that the cold smoothie went really well with the hot noodles. Blueberries are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, blended with the juicy mangoes and creamy yoghurt as a result that I felt there’s nothing could beat this super healthy and delicious drink. Best of all, you can whip it up in minutes if you have a food processor or blender. This drink can be served as breakfast or light lunch as well.

I didn’t plan to cook this dish initially. Why came up with this dish then? The minute I went into a nearby grocer, I spotted three ladies feeling really excited to choose something the other day. My curiosity urged me to step forward and find out what they were picking. They were chestnuts, my most favourite nuts. Although the chestnuts were not big, they were shiny and fresh. Compared with those in supermarkets, it’s a good bargain. It didn’t take me too long to pick a full bag of beautiful chestnuts back home. Off I went to braise them with pork ribs. This dish perfectly goes with a bowl of steamed rice. I saved some for my daughter as next-day lunch. The leftover tasted even better than we thought.

It’s getting warmer these few days, becoming a good time to make something cold and sweet. Coconut milk pudding is a kind of old fashioned dim sum you might find in some yam cha restaurants. I made this dessert the other day to treat myself after a long day’s work. There’s one secret ingredient to make this creamy dessert more delicate and smooth cotton like. Guess what? It’s egg white. It makes the pudding not so springy after adding the gelatine powder. One of my friends commented it’s the texture of coconut milk pudding he likes the most.
