Again, here’s my favourite dessert made by bananas! Yes, bananas are on sale right now. I’ve got heaps of ripe bananas at home. This recipe might sound a bit indifferent to your feelings if you live in Northern Hemisphere. Pardon me if so. The weather is too warm down under here. So I like to have something to make myself feel refreshing.
This banana ice-cream is pretty easy and quick to make. No need to cook any custard. And the texture of the ice-cream is really creamy and smooth. Best of all, it’s homemade, full of natural banana flavours. I think it could be a fantastic dessert after our Christmas dinner tomorrow.
Prepare an ice-cream maker
Ingredients:
- 1 large ripe banana
- 200 ml milk
- 100 ml heavy cream
- 50 gm caster sugar
Method:
- Mash the banana in a food processor until smooth.
- Mix in the milk, heavy cream and sugar.
- Pour the mixture into ice-cream maker and freeze it according to the manufacturer's instructions, about 20 minutes.
- Once the ice cream has been formed in the ice cream maker, it would be quite soft in texture. Transfer to an air-tight plastic container and place in the freezer for several hours until the ice-cream is frozen. Or you might like to have it after freezing for an hour or so.
So easy. I should dust off my ice-cream maker or this.
ReplyDeleteSo easy. I like it because it's eggless and yolkless. I sometimes hate to be left with just egg whites and not knowing what to do with them. Thank you Christine!
ReplyDeletelovely lovely! this looks like a must try.
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious Christine - especially since it is quite easy to make and no raw eggs!

ReplyDeleteHave to try this soon... My kid loves anything to do with Banana & Ice creams! Great for vegans and pregnant buddies! Thank you so much!
ReplyDeletePS. I found out at my local supermarket there's a company supplying pasteurised eggs!
Ooo... I think I should shop for the ice-cream maker too. But can still go without it! There's an ice-cream powder which I could get it from the specialty shop easily.
ReplyDeleteMERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR to you & your family! Hope you've a fabulous time during this festive season. Bless you!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, Kristy
How easy, and economical too. Delicious!
ReplyDeleteDelicious! We really need to get a replacement paddle on our ice cream maker! The broken one has been keeping us from homemade ice cream deliciousness for too long!
ReplyDeleteEvery year, we say we need to get a icecream maker. Definitely better than store bought ones! Looks great!

ReplyDeleteabout how much ice cream does this make?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteAbout 300ml.
Just made this and I'm eating it as we speak, haha. I like how it's not overly sweet, and how well the cream goes with the banana. This is so easy to make, now I know what to do with my over ripe bananas haha. Thanks Christine!
ReplyDeleteGlad that you loved it.
DeleteThe homemade banana ice cream is more delicious than we thought.
And we hardly get banana ice cream from supermarkets nowadays.
